Unfortunately, public water treatment systems are not fail safe. A 2018 report from the EPA detailed the detection of the faecal parasite Cryptosporidium in 25 public water supplies, up from 17 in 2017 and 12 in 2016.
The report stated that
in eight supplies, the treatment processes or infrastructure were not good enough to treat Cryptosporidium effectively;
in seven supplies, there were no treatment processes in place at all at the water treatment plant to treat Cryptosporidium, and
in three supplies, there was an appropriate barrier to Cryptosporidium at the water treatment plant but operational issues resulted in the failure to remove the parasite.
Eight supplies supplying water to 66,621 people, were added to the list in 2018. These supplies were added for persistent pesticide problems, inadequate treatment for Cryptosporidium, failure to meet the trihalomethane (THM) standard and persistent nitrate problems.
THMs are chemicals produced by a reaction between using chlorine to disinfect water and natural organic matter. At high levels, they have been associated with certain cancers and reproductive problems.

The Alvito filter cartridge must be replaced after 6 months (in accordance with DgIN 1988). As a basic rule 6,000 – 8,000 litres of water can be filtered within a six-month period. Earlier replacement might be necessary when the water flow becomes noticeably reduced. This is not the result of any deficiency in the filter used but rather a sign of the increased presence of fine particles in the raw unfiltered water. Only use with cold water, and protect from freezing.
The counter top filter sits on top of your work top next to your sink and is visible in your kitchen. The under-sink filter requires installation by a plumber under your sink and is generally not visible in finished kitchens.
Counter top filters are quick and easy to install. Please watch our video for advice here.

It is recommended you change the fluoride absorber (not the cartridge) every 12 months.
To effectively eliminate fluoride from the water, it must be in contact with the fluoride absorber for a prescribed amount of time that is consistent with a low flow rate.
EM pipes enhance the quality of your water by destroying water clusters and reducing negative energy and water memory. They make the water taste softer and accelerate its absorption into the body’s cells.
No, EM Pipes do not clean water.
